Innings of the Day - Nasser Hussain, 207, Edgbaston 97
Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I put it to you that when Nasser wasn't busy breaking his fingers or getting angry at pretty much anyone in his immediate vicinity, he actually had as pretty a cover drive as Michael Vaughan.
This innings above all else made me a cricket lover. It also unfortunately made me model my own batting on Nasser based on careful scrutiny of subsequent tests. Every dog has his day.
Interesting position - althogh we should remember this was Nasser at his very best, and when we are at our best we all play gorgeous shots.
ReplyDeleteI've a great deal of time for Nasser the cricketer (and even more for Nasser the captain), but when he wasn't at his best he could LOOK awful.
NB: I was at Edgbaston for Day 1 of the above. It's worth remembering that Gough skittled Australia for c. 150 in not-particularly-helpful conditions.

ReplyDeleteActually I see a resemblance with the low hand position. I expect if you got a hundred you'd point at the number on your back too.
